His academic path led him to several research environments, including Kyoto, where he worked in the laboratory of Professor Kinoshita, a recognised cornea specialist. This experience shaped his interest in ophthalmology.
He then completed his medical studies at the University of Geneva and his ophthalmology training at Jules-Gonin Eye Hospital in Lausanne. After obtaining his FMH title in ophthalmology in 2022, he served as a surgical chief resident at the same institution, with a focus on cataract surgery, ocular oncology and paediatric consultations.

Cataract surgery
A cataract is the progressive clouding of the natural lens of the eye, which can cause a gradual decline in vision, light sensitivity or changes in contrast perception.
A consultation allows for an evaluation of the visual impairment, the condition of the eye, and whether surgery may be indicated. Dr Salmon developed particular experience in this field during his work at Jules-Gonin Eye Hospital in Lausanne.
The decision to operate is made jointly with the patient, based on the reported impairment and clinical findings.
